Documentary Questions

The movement to legalize cannabis has gained an unprecedented amount of public support in recent times - so much so that it’s no longer a question of if, but how. Project 420 Michigan aims to examine the topic, finding the solutions to a wide range of potential issues:

Legal Considerations:
• What are the appropriate legal restrictions?
• What government agencies should be involved? Should new bureaucratic agencies be formed?
• Should one need a license to grow cannabis? Should the cultivation process be monitored? Should one need a license to distribute and sell cannabis?
• Should cannabis be taxed? If so, how?

Business and Economic Considerations:
• How will the economy be changed by a legal cannabis market? What happens to present-day operations?
• Who will sell cannabis? How will the pharmaceutical, tobacco, agricultural, and textile industries react?
• Should sellers be able to advertise?
• What types of market regulations need to be in place?
• How should copyright law regulate the cannabis market?

Societal Considerations:
• Is it harmful to health and society to legalize cannabis? Does it serve as a “gateway drug?”
• How else does the legalization of cannabis shape modern society?
